So the miner gets punished because s/he cant find anyone who is willing to sit beside them for hours on end as a guard?
Are you volunteering? Yesterday I only mined for 11hrs, come join me, it'll be great fun.
Even with guards you usually lose your hulk anyway because they pop so easily.

Here's a better example. A warp-to-0 hauler marco will look at your display, pre-setup to display only stargates, and it will be able to tell the differnce between the starate that is your next jump vs all others in teh system. It does this becuase the game mechanics 'paint the text' of the next startgate on your overview as yellow, and the OCR bot can recognize the difference between yellow and black on your display, so it will select the 'yellow' gate and warp to it.
You don't need OCR for that. My hauler alt has a macro bound to a key that'll WTZ for me. It's one of the most simple macros I use.
Overview needs no special settings except to show gates.
Overview is always the same width and entries are always the same distance apart.
Macro goes down to each entry in the icon list looking at a single pixel to see if its [the correct] yellow (I use the tip of the triangle inside the circle of the stargate icon).
When its found the mouse moves to the coords of that pixel and left clicks to highlight the gate.
Mouse moves up and left clicks warp to (more reliable than the warp keystroke)
Even with the overview full of stuff (55 entries on my setup) it takes less than a second.

I have terminal brain cancer, I'm 9 months past my estimated use by date. Loss of judgment and inappropriateness are just 2 of the worsening symptoms. One of the worst is motor controll. See here and here.

I'm hoping I'm the exception to the rule and nothing is automatic, everything requires a key stroke. Without marcos to assist me (only used last 12 months) I'd have to stop playing and after 7 years I'd find that totally devastating.

Originally by: Vincent Athena Do have it set up so one keystroke is needed at each system? CCP might not be too concerned with that as you still are directly controlling stuff. But if it free runs multiple jumps.. that is an issue.
Yes, I have to be at the k'board and theres on automation other than to select items on menus. There are no repeating macros. I don't even use error correction to auto run the macro again if it stuffs up due to lag or something, I have to push the key again. If everything was automatic I wouldn't be playing the game so there'd be no point.
Originally by: Vincent Athena Also many just use the autopilot, and after the warp dumps you 15 km away from the gate, use one keystroke to turn on the microwarpdrive. You zoom up to the gate, autopilot jumps you. Move the microwarp to the top row so say f1 triggers it, then just sit there with a finger on f1, pushing it as needed.
Everyone else can use WTZ if they wish, I don't feel I should be bared from using it. Especially when my wife makes me do over 1300 jumps in an oblisk backwards and forwards all day and then tells me she gave me the wrong drop off station. Rude words were used that day.

What kind of wife makes you do 1300 jumps in an Obelisk when you're disabled?
The one that decides on a whim to move across the other side of eve. To be fair she has to work all day and I have nothing to do.
Although she is getting a bit sick of my 'Yeah, make the dying cripple do it' jokes. |

I was banned for 14 days for a WTZ macro.
I have motor control issues and submitted medical documentation to CCP to "prove my case". It was rejected with sincere apologies, there are no exceptions. The problem with the macro was the technique I used to do it and I used unapproved 3rd party software to do it.
I've rewritten the macro using a different technique and approved software (G k'boards Lua). It does exactly the same thing still with a singe key press and works better than the old technique. I find that a bit funny but CCP are the boss.
I had never checked out Lua before and was unaware my macros could be done with it.
